Banshee Wiring Harness - Which plug shapes do I need?

One thing many riders like about Yamaha Banshees is that many of the parts are interchangeable between the different years Banshees were manufactured. However, the electrical components had a few changes.  😏

Wiring Harness Plug Shapes by Year

We are working on getting pictures of these. For now, we will use our words, LOL. 😉

1987 – 1994

• Handlebar Switch has 6 pin, round semi-clear connector.
  • Handlebar side is male. Harness side is female.
• CDI has two 4 pin, round, semi-clear connectors. CDI Part #2GU-50/2GU-51.
  • CDI side and harness side each have 1 male and 1 female connector. Male connectors have a black, flexible water shield. 
• Stator has 3 connectors. One 4 pin round semi-clear connector, 2 semi-clear bullet connectors for black and yellow wires. 
  • Stator side has a male 4 pin round, semi-clear connector and 2 female bullet connectors.
  • Harness side has a female 4-pin round, semi-clear connector and 2 male bullet connectors.
• Headlight has 3 bullet wire connectors per headlight. Each wire has a separate connector.
• Taillight Assembly WITHOUT a brake light. 

1995 was a Changeover Year

• Handlebar Switch may be same as 1987-1994, OR as follows:
  • Handlebar switch has a 6-pin rectangle connector. The ground wire is a separate bullet connector. 
    • Handlebar side 6-pin connector is male. Bullet connector is female.
    • Harness side 6-pin connector is female. Bullet connector is male.
• CDI may be same as 1987-1994, OR as follows:
  • CDI has two 4-pin connectors. One is gray and one is white. CDI Part #3GG-00.
    • CDI side has 1 gray male connector and 1 white female connector.
    • Harness side has 1 gray female and 1 white male connector.
• Stator may be same as 1987-1994, OR as follows:
  • Stator has 3 connectors. 1 square white plug connector, 2 semi-clear bullet connectors for black and yellow wires. 
    • Stator side has male square white connector and 2 female bullet connectors.
    • Harness side has s on the stator side and female connectors on the harness side. 
• Headlight may be same as 1987-1994, OR as follows:
  • Headlight has a 3-pin, flat, rectangle, semi-clear connector for each headlight.
• Taillight Assembly WITHOUT a brake light. 

1996 – 1997 

• Handlebar Switch has a 6-pin rectangle connector. The ground wire is a separate bullet connector. 
  • Handlebar side 6-pin connector is male. Bullet connector is female.
  • Harness side 6-pin connector is female. Bullet connector is male.
• CDI has two 4-pin connectors. One is gray and one is white. CDI Part #3GG-00.
  • CDI side has 1 gray male connector and 1 white female connector.
  • Harness side has 1 gray female and 1 white male connector.
• Stator has 3 connectors. 1 square white connector, 2 semi-clear bullet connectors for black and yellow wires. 
  • Stator side has a male square white connector and 2 female bullet connectors.
  • Harness side has a female square white connector and 2 male bullet connectors.
• Headlight has a 3-pin, flat, rectangle semi-clear connector for each headlight.
• Taillight Assembly WITHOUT a brake light. 

1998 – 2001 

• Handlebar Switch has a 6-pin rectangle connector. The ground wire is a separate bullet connector. 
  • Handlebar side 6-pin connector is male. Bullet connector is female.
  • Harness side 6-pin connector is female. Bullet connector is male.
• CDI has a two 4 pin, square, connectors. 1 is semi-clear and 1 is white. CDI Part #3GG-01.
  • CDI side has 1 male semi-clear and 1 female white connector.
  • Harness side has 1 female and 1 male white connector.
• Stator has 3 connectors. 1 square white connector, 2 semi-clear bullet connectors for black and yellow wires. 
  • Stator side has a male square white connector and 2 female bullet connectors.
  • Harness side has a female square white connector and 2 male bullet connectors.
• Headlight has a 3-pin, flat, rectangle, semi-clear plug connector for each headlight.
• Taillight Assembly WITHOUT a brake light. 

2002 – 2006 

• Handlebar Switch has 6 pin, rectangle semi-clear connector.
  • Handlebar side is male.
  • Harness side is female.
• CDI has a two 4 pin, square, connectors. 1 is semi-clear and 1 is white.
  • CDI side has 1 male semi-clear and 1 female white connector.
  • Harness side has 1 female and 1 male white connector.
• Stator has 3 connectors. 1 square white connector, 2 semi-clear bullet connectors for black and yellow wires. 
  • Stator side has a male square white connector and 2 female bullet connectors.
  • Harness side has a female square white connector and 2 male bullet connectors.
• Headlight has a white, triangle, 3 pin connector for each headlight.
• Taillight Assembly WITH a brake light. 
  • Light assembly changed to include a bulb now with 2 filaments. Light assembly is much larger than previous years. 
  • Brake light added to taillight & switch added. Front or rear brake turns the brake light on. Uses the same light assembly as the taillight.
