Virgil put together another solid, reliable, stock Yamaha Blaster. This 1998 Blue & White Blaster Rebuild resulted in a clean, well-sorted machine that’s ideal for a younger rider or someone just getting started. There are no performance modifications—just a properly rebuilt, stock Blaster that runs great. If performance upgrades are in the plans later, this bike is an excellent starting point.
This Blaster sold on our website.

The engine received a fresh rebuild and is now right around 200 cc. A stock Blaster typically produces 15–17 horsepower from its original 195 cc engine, with a top speed of about 55 MPH. This Blaster retains the factory oil injection system, while the TORS system has been deleted. For riders looking to add more power in the future, a pipe and jetting could be installed—though that would require removing the oil injection and switching to premix fuel, similar to a Banshee.
How This Blaster Came To Us
This Blaster came to us through an existing Re-Do customer. He brought his Banshee in for service and asked Virgil to diagnose an issue with his Blaster as well. After completing the diagnostic work and providing an estimate, the repairs exceeded what the customer wanted to invest.
We agreed to take the Blaster as a trade-in toward his Banshee repairs, complete the work in-house, and offer it for sale once finished.
The engine needed a new crankshaft, piston, and fresh bore. The plastics had an odd repair, and there were several smaller issues that needed attention.
The Rebuild Process
While the engine was out of the frame for rebuilding, Virgil cleaned up the rest of the Blaster. Once the rebuilt engine was reinstalled, it fired up on the second kick and ran strong right away.
After fine-tuning the idle and making final adjustments, the Blaster settled into a smooth, clean-running machine. It has plenty of power and will even pull wheelies in second and third gear with Virgil riding it.
The rear white plastics had an old repair we weren’t happy with, so they were replaced with a nice set of used white plastics.
With the TORS system removed, the thumb throttle assembly had an open hole that was previously sealed with electrical tape. Virgil removed the tape and installed one of our Thumb Throttle Plugs—a clean, permanent solution that we manufacture and sell on our website.

Final Result
This 1998 Blue & White Blaster Rebuild turned into exactly what we aim for: a clean, smooth-running, stock Blaster that’s reliable and easy to ride. It’s a great option for a new rider or anyone looking for a solid Yamaha Blaster that hasn’t been hacked up—and a perfect foundation for future upgrades.
We also have a few other stock Blasters Virgil may be getting ready for sale in between other projects. Interested in a Blaster like this or a similar repair? Let us know.
